Submission terms

version 2.3 · updated August 2026

The music is yours

By submitting, you confirm you wrote, own, or have permission to submit the track. If you don't hold the rights — an uncleared sample, a beat you haven't licensed, someone else's song — don't submit it. That's on you, not us.

Anything you send may contain copyrighted material, and clearing it is your responsibility rather than ours. We don't check what's in a track before it plays and we're not in a position to. If a submission leads to a claim, a strike, a takedown, a muted recording or any other demand from a rights holder, that sits with the person who submitted it. You agree to cover us for any cost or claim that comes out of a track you sent us, and we may pull a submission, a clip or a whole recording at any time without notice.

The submission form asks for this twice on purpose. One box covers the track as a whole; a second, separate box asks specifically about the beat or instrumental, because that's the part most often skipped — owning what you rapped or sang over it is not the same as owning the beat underneath it. Both are your word, recorded against the submission at the time you sent it.

What you're allowing

You're giving Good Bad Memories permission to play your track on a live stream, react to it on camera, and keep that stream available afterwards as a recording or clip. You keep every other right to your music. You can ask us to remove a clip and we will, but a live stream that already went out can't be unsent.

What paying gets you

A paid skip buys position in the queue — nothing else. It doesn't buy a positive review, a full listen, or a guarantee we reach your song before the stream ends. Feedback is honest, which is the point.

If we don't get to your paid submission, ask for a refund and you'll get one. If your track breaks the rules below, we may skip it without a refund.

King of the Mountain nights

On a King of the Mountain night we rank the top ten live. Where your song lands is our judgment and nothing else. A song already on the board can be moved down or taken off it at any point in the night, including by another song arriving after yours.

Paying on one of these nights guarantees that your song gets played. It does not buy a place on the board, a rank, or a prize. If the night ends without your paid song being played, it's refunded automatically.

A night runs three hours from the moment we start the clock. When it reaches zero the board is final: whoever holds each place at that moment has won it, and nothing after that changes it.

Prizes pay only if the night reaches 50 submissions, paid or free. Below that, no prize is awarded to anyone. The count is shown live on the board all night, and both rules are stated on the King of the Mountain page before you submit. Cash prizes are sent manually after the stream, to a payment handle we ask the winners for afterwards.

Mix + 2 skips

This buys two separate things: your song goes in the queue at priority (the same as two regular skips would) and gets played and reviewed on stream tonight, and a full mix gets made afterward. The turnaround we quote — within 48 hours— starts when we've received your stems and confirmed they're usable, not from the moment you pay. A stem set that needs re-exporting costs you time, not us; there is no repayment or reset needed to send a corrected set.

You have 30 days to send stems from the link in your confirmation email. If they never arrive, the purchase is not refunded — the queue priority and the stream review already happened, which is most of what was paid for, and mixing is work that only starts once we have something to mix.

Two revisions are included, turned around within 12-24 hours of the request.

Direct mix (no skip)

Bought straight from the mix page rather than through a submission — $30, no queue slot, no stream play. Turnaround, the 30-day stems window and the two included revisions work exactly like the Mix + 2 skips tier above. Unlike that tier, nothing is played or reviewed on stream as part of this purchase — so if stems never arrive within the 30-day window, this one is refunded rather than kept, since nothing was delivered.

Promo codes

A code gives you a paid tier without paying for it. Each one works onceand expires thirty days after it's issued. Codes have no cash value, can't be exchanged or refunded, and we can cancel one that was shared publicly or obtained by guessing.

What we won't play

Anything containing threats or targeted harassment, content sexualising minors, material that would break the law to broadcast, or a track you don't hold the rights to. We can skip anything for any reason — it's a live stream, not a listing service.

Your email

We ask for it so we can reach you if there's a problem with your submission — a file that won't open, a link that doesn't play. Your queue position is shown live on the site itself, so we don't email it to you.

A mix purchase — bundled with two skips, or bought directly — is the exception: it carries its own separate emails, because a mix is something you specifically paid for and has to be delivered somewhere — the stems link, a rejected upload, and the finished mix or a revision. Buy a mix and that's the only mail you'll get from us; buy or submit anything else and you shouldn't hear from us at all unless something needs fixing.

No newsletter, no marketing, no selling it, and we don't pass it to anyone. It's stored with your submission and goes when that does. Reply to any email from us and we'll stop sending them — you stay in the queue either way.

Payment receipts come from Stripe rather than us, and they handle that email separately.

Song of the day previews

If your track is picked as a song of the day, a thirty-second excerpt from the middle of it may be played on the submission page, so people can hear what got chosen. That is the only place your audio is played back on this site outside the stream itself.

We don't publish, sell, license, or make your full track downloadable, and we don't use it in anything else. If you don't want an excerpt used this way, email us and we'll remove it.

Your Instagram, and being tagged

The submission form has an optionalInstagram field. If you fill it in, you're giving us permission to tag that account when your track is posted as a song or beat of the day on @_goodbadmemories.

That is the only thing the handle is used for. We don't message you on it, we don't publish it on this site, we don't add it to a list, and we don't pass it to anyone. It's stored with your submission and goes when that does.

A post is the same each time:

  • Your name and the track title, as you typed them when you submitted.
  • A short excerpt — the same thirty seconds described above, or a clip of the reaction from the stream.
  • A tag, if you gave us a handle.

Leaving the field blank changes nothing about whether you get picked — it only means the post won't tag anyone. If you filled it in and would rather we didn't, or you want a post taken down after the fact, email us and it goes. You can also simply untag yourself on Instagram, which we won't undo.

Your file

Uploads are stored privately and are never publicly linked. Ordinary submissions are deleted automatically a few weeks after the stream. Tracks we star as favourites — including songs of the day — are kept longer so we can come back to them and so the excerpt above keeps working. Nothing you upload is distributed or sold.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Charges appear on your statement as GOODBADMEMORIES.

Age

You need to be 13 or older to submit, and 18 or older to pay.

Changes

If these terms change, the version number above changes with them. The version you agreed to is recorded with your submission.
